Ad world

Well, where did that come from? I've just seen a new eBay advert! With a "don't sit on it, sell it" tag line, this is prima facie aimed at new sellers: unsurprising in this traditionally slow time for retail, it follows on nicely from the eBay post-Xmas 're-gifting' campaign.

Though this episode is as unexciting as the rest of the primary people adverts have been, it's good to see eBay keeping up the publicity now the spendy season is over.

Protect yourself against BCPD

We're rather amused by eBay Singapore's Christmas campaign against Bad Christmas Present Disorder. "Log on to eBay and buy yourself the present you really want" is a great message... I just wonder if those are shots of a new site design we can expect any time soon?

eBay Express Exclusives in the Evening Standard

Today's Evening Standard is promoting exclusive designer goods available on eBay Express. Five talented designers come together under the express*exclusives user ID and you can read more about them on the express*exclusives about me page.

Currently listed are a Charlotte Tangye footprint shoe rack, some Jethro Macey quirky flying duck hooks, Sylvie Fuller latte mugs, Leanne Rostron urban bone china salad plates and my personal favourites, Gary Birks' bone china cat and dog bowls.

Another designer exclusive to eBay Express is Lou Lou and Law. Ann Louise Roswald and Natasha Law have collaborated in a cool, relaxed line of clothing featuring iconic Law nudes and Roswald's eye for line, pattern and shape.

Great to see some superb items to draw the buyers into eBay Express UK.

Wrapping with Esmerelda

Right on cue for the serious spendy season, the third eBay UK advert is now available for viewing. I like the message here that some of her Christmas shopping has already been done on eBay, but that there's still plenty of time to order more goods from the site. With eBay traffic up this weekend, lets hope the trend is going to continue.

eBay.co.uk adverts in the Sunday Telegraph

They're on the TV, they're at the Cinema, they're in the Observer, and today they've made it to the Sunday Telegraph! Where will those little ebay logo people turn up next? Who knows! What we do know is that they're working hard to bring you buyers, onto eBay, for Christmas!

I wanna box vs National Sleep In Day

Very different to the UK the eBay.com adverts feature real people rather than the UK's logo people. The adverts still based around the IT campaign now have a decidedly Christmassy feel to them... bar the last one which is based around National Sleep In Day on 24th November. Bearing in mind in the UK site maintenance is carried out on a Friday this seems like a great idea to me ;-)

eBay.co.uk TV Adverts in the Cinema

eBay are really pushing the boat out with their new series of TV adverts. They're made it onto the big screen and have been seen in the cinema at box office hits such as the new Bond movie Casino Royale.

With TV, cinema and also newspapers such as the Observer featuring them those little logo people are working hard to bring buyers in for Christmas.

The real eBay.co.uk ads 2006 series

I'll post more as I come across them but the two that I've seen so far are:-
Get in there
I wanna box

Nice to see a totally new theme with some simpsonesh characters but the ads have caused controversy with sellers questioning whether they convey the right message. At the end of the day who cares though.... site traffic is up and that's gotta be a good thing for all of us :-)
